IRS Annual Contribution Limits apply to only the following FPPA plans:
  • 457 Deferred Compensation Plan,
  • Statewide Money Purchase Plan, and the
  • Statewide Hybrid Plan - Money Purchase Component.

A public rule-making hearing will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2008 for the following plans:
  • Statewide Defined Benefit Plan,
  • Statewide Hybrid Plan,
  • Colorado Springs New Hire Pension Plan, and the
  • Statewide Money Purchase Plan.

The Healthcare Provision of the Pension Protection Act of 2006.
A component of the new federal Pension Protection Act (PPA) is the Healthcare Enhancement for Local Public Safety (HELPS) provision. This provision grants eligible retired public safety officers an annual federal income tax exclusion of up to $3,000. for amounts paid to cover the cost of qualified health insurance premiums on behalf of the member, his or her spouse, or dependents.
