The Fire and Police Pension Association was created by legislative mandate in the 1980’s. Our leadership team guides us in fulfilling our mission, vision and values while achieving our strategic objectives. We administer a statewide multiple employer public employee retirement system providing defined benefit plan coverage as well as death and disability coverage for police officers and firefighters throughout the State of Colorado.

We are a small association of only 70 staff located in Denver, CO. We work hard and have a culture that supports staff to establish a well‐balanced relationship between their personal needs and work commitments.

Position Summary

The IT Operations & Production Manager is responsible for the reliability, security, and operational performance of the organization’s technology environment, including enterprise IT operations and all production systems supporting the Pension Administration System (PAS).
This role leads IT Operations and is accountable for production environment ownership, including infrastructure, deployments, and operational readiness. The role oversees the DevOps function responsible for deployment pipelines and environment management, ensuring secure and controlled delivery of application changes into production.
This position maintains a strict separation of responsibilities between Development and Operations, with IT Operations retaining exclusive ownership of production systems.
This role also supports the organization’s emerging Artificial Intelligence (AI) program, ensuring AI capabilities are implemented securely, governed appropriately, and integrated into IT operations and DevOps practices.
The position is fully accountable for the end-user technology experience across the organization, ensuring IT services are intuitive, reliable, and responsive to business needs.

Qualifications Summary

Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or related field preferred (or equivalent experience).

  • Minimum of 8 years of hands-on, proven leadership experience in IT Ops and production systems
  • Strong Microsoft ecosystem expertise (Azure, M365, security)
  • Experience with DevOps and CI/CD
  • Strong focus on end-user experience and service quality
  • ITIL/ITSM knowledge and metrics (SLAs, CSAT)
  • Understanding of AI governance and secure technology adoption
  • Experience with monitoring and observability tool

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions
  • Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code
  • Experience in financial services or pension systems
  • Experience with enterprise AI platforms

Salary and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $140K ‐ $170K depending upon experience. Includes group medical, dental, vision, 401(k), 457, defined benefit though Colorado PERA, life insurance and long‐term disability.
