Old Hire Plans

FPPA provides administrative support to affiliated local pension plans for first responders hired before April 8, 1978. These so-called Old Hire plans work with FPPA on actuarial, investments, and benefit payment operations.

Membership: 2,000+ retired first responders
Employers: 40 Colorado fire and police departments
Funded Ratio: Varies by plan

Actuarial Study Timeline for Old Hire Employers

  • Even-numbered years: 2024, 2026, 2028 etc.
  • Packets are mailed in January
  • Packet information must be received by March 1
  • Actuarial Study will be completed in July
